Manipulate with transparency and background
Manipulating with transparency and background color you can completely change the  presentation of the image. See example below:

System automatically recognized transparent color for transparent gif image and set checkbox "Make Transparent" as checked and sets  "Transparent Color" as "white".

We unchecked "Make Transparent" and specified "Set Background" as "red" and click  "Update List"

Add file?:                                     

Then we set transparent again ("Make Transparent" is checked) and select "lightstateblue" for "Transparent Color" choice. and click "Update List". Click "Update List":

We unchecked "Make Transparent" checkbox. Background stays "red". Click "Update List":
